Kids Who Care Summer Camp Counselors
Aletheia House is looking for interns who want to make a difference in the lives of low-income youth …And because we want the best – we are paying $10 an hour!
Are you a skilled, high-energy, people-oriented college student who cares about making your community and world a better place? Do you enjoy working with young people? Do you want to gain valuable skills, meet new friends and have fun all while affecting positive change? If so, Aletheia House wants you to serve as a counselor for our Kids Who Care Summer Camp for low-income youth.
We are especially interested in students majoring in social work, psychology, education or a similar field, but anyone with a passion for service is encouraged to apply. And since we value and encourage diversity at Aletheia House, we will make an affirmative effort to recruit interns varied in their race and ethnicity.
Kids Who Care is a free summer camp program for several hundred Birmingham-area youth ages 6-13. Throughout the summer, campers will engage in activities designed to teach them positive ways to care about their country, community, family and themselves. Counselors will lead campers in creative learning activities including music, art, fun outdoor games that promote physical health and activity and will teach campers about making healthy nutrition choices including how to prepare healthy snacks.
Requirements:
Male or Female, Diverse race and ethnicity
10 wk commitment (approximate timeline is May 30th-Aug 8th)
Be available to work 5 days a week / 8 hour days

During the past several years, we have experienced significant growth. Many of our interns have gone on to be hired as full-time Aletheia House employees so there is definitely an opportunity for outstanding interns to advance within the organization.
