The accounting manager’s role is to manage, track, evaluate, and maintain the day-to-day accounting activities of the accounting staff. The accounting manager’s responsibilities also include collecting, analyzing and preparing internal and external reporting. The accounting manager works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia House. Area served is Jefferson County.
Office Location: Ash Place, 2100 16thAvenue South, Suite 301, Birmingham, AL 35205
Oversees the daily operations of the accounting department to include:
- Month and year end processing
- Accounts Payable
- Billing and Accounts Receivables
- Cash Receipts
- General Ledger
- Cash Forecasting
- Revenue and Expenditures analysis
- Fixed Assets reconciliation
- Debt activities
-Produce timely and accurate financial statements that include a statement of revenue and expenses.
-Ensure that agency bank accounts are reconciled in an accurate and timely manner.
-Participate in a quality assurance process that periodically monitors the agency’s records to ensure that documentation is in compliance with the terms and conditions of contracts.
-Facilitate meetings of the accounting team and report on the same to the Chief Financial Officer.
-Coordinate with the Chief Financial Officer in the preparation of the agency’s annual budget and United Way allocation request.
-Adhere to strict outside agency reporting deadlines.
-Maintain and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and procedures.
-Assist with the preparation of materials needed for the annual audit by independent auditors.
-Provide initial review of time sheets, time cards, leave requests, purchase orders and mileage requests for accounting team members.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and/or Executive Director.
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of 7 years of accounting experience
-At least two years of proven experience as an accounting manager or senior level accountant
-Advance computer skills in MS Office products, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
-Proven knowledge of accounting and payroll principles, practices, standards, and regulations
-High attention to detail and accuracy
-Ability to work in a fast paced and constantly changing environment
-Non-profit and/or health and Human Service Industry experience is a plus
-CPA is a plus
$50,000.00 – $58,000.00 annual salary
F/T, Exempt–Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm – 40 Hours
