Behavioral Health Manager-Birmingham (#0481)

Aletheia House is looking for an individual to manage behavioral health services and
provide counseling for patients at our health center. The area served is Jefferson
County.
Position Summary:
The behavioral health manager is responsible for managing the behavioral health
services, and providing counseling to our health center patients. This individual works
closely with, and is supervised by, the Health Services Director. Approximately 50% of
this individual’s duties are managerial and 50% are direct service.

Duties Include:
• Managing the behavioral health services provided at the Bessemer
Neighborhood Health Center
• Supervising the behavioral health staff
• Providing counseling services to BNHC patients (50%)
• Serve as the liaison between the Health Services Director and behavioral health
staff
• Work with the Health Services Director to provide appropriate resolution for
patient issues and concerns related to behavioral health service
• Facilitate team meetings, training and other activities with behavioral health staff
designed to improve the quality and cultural competence of services
• Oversee the timely, complete, and accurate completion of documentation by
behavioral health staff as required by the Aletheia House and other regulatory
agencies.
• Work to ensure behavioral health services comply with relevant requirements
from regulatory and funding organizations such as HRSA, the Alabama
Department of Mental Health, the Alabama Department of Public Health, etc.
• Work with the Health Services Director and medical care providers to promote
the delivery of high quality, integrated medical and behavioral health services
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Health Services Director Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge and experience related to the treatment of substance use disorders
and co-occurring substance use and mental disorders, including the use of
medication.
• Ability to manage a team with diverse members and work collaboratively with
other BNHC staff
• Ability to work collaboratively with supervisor to achieve the goals of the
organization.
• Cultural competency in meeting the needs of low-income patients, including
those experiencing homelessness

Qualifications:
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral health with
a clinical practicum required
• Certification as a substance abuse professional or the ability to achieve
certification within 30 months required
• At least five years of experience providing counseling required. Experience
providing substance abuse treatment services preferred
• Must be eligible to provide Medicaid services

Job Salary:
$44,000 – $54,000

Hours:
Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm or as required
