Aletheia House is looking for individuals that want to make a difference in the lives of homeless
veterans. Area/County Served: Jefferson County and surrounding areas.
Location of Position: Birmingham, Alabama
Office Location: 2631 Ensley Avenue West (Five Points West), Birmingham, AL 35218
Position Summary:
The veteran’s outreach worker/case manager will recruit and provide supportive services to
adult men and women veterans who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness secure
employment. The staff works closely with the veteran’s program manager to accomplish the
mission and service goals of Aletheia House.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Actively recruit and engage Veterans who are experiencing homelessness to the JFV program
-Conduct regular visits to homeless shelters, soup kitchens, Veteran Administration, Career
Center and homeless encampments within Jefferson and Shelby Counties
-Identify, recruit and enroll at least 4 Veteran’s weekly
– Assist in the collection of follow-up data by locating individuals who have received services
-Coordinate and communicate outreach tracking activities with other staff and accurately
document all activities
-participate in required staff meetings, trainings and professional development
-Perform other duties assigned by the veteran service coordinator, director of behavior health,
chief operating officer and executive director
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral health, social services preferred
-Former homeless veteran preferred /veteran
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize
-Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with participants and resource providers
-Must have a current Driver’s License and a good driving record
-Motor Vehicle Report required
Travel:
-The position requires daily travel in order to recruit participants in the counties served and to
attend meetings and training located in Birmingham area
-Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation
-Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included
-When not use the outreach worker can drive the agency’s van
Job Salary:
$34,000 to $35,000
Hours:
F/T Exempt – Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Total Hours – 40
