Aletheia House has several openings in our residential facilities. We are looking for individuals
that want to make a difference in the lives of individuals recovering from substance abuse. Area
Served: Jefferson County.
Office Location of Position: 201 Finley Avenue West, Birmingham, AL 35204
Position Summary:
The childcare worker is responsible for providing childcare services and childcare development
with all dependent children to the women who are receiving treatment for substance abuse
disorders. The childcare worker is responsible for transporting clients to and from services as
needed. The childcare worker works closely with the women and family treatment coordinator.
Primary Responsibilities:
-To provide evidenced-based childcare services to the dependent children of women who are in
treatment for a substance abuse disorder.
-Attend to children by providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or
other personal care to children. This may include, but not limited to feeding, dressing and
overseeing play.
-To report observed or unusual behavior of the children to their mother and the clinical staff.
-To maintain a log of all childcare services.
-Solve routine problems related to the children who are in care.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the women and family treatment coordinator, director of
behavioral health, chief operating officer and/or executive director.
Qualifications:
-High school diploma required. Bachelors of Science degree in education or social work
preferred
-Work experience and undergraduate coursework in early childhood education and certification
preferred
-Valid Driver’s License and good driving record required
-Motor Vehicle Report required
Travel Requirements:
-Quarterly meetings and trainings.
-Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation.
-Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included.
Job Salary:
$11.00 to 13.00/Hourly
Hours:
Part-time, Non-Exempt
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8:30am – 2:00 pm – Total Hours 16.5
