The Aletheia House is looking for a caring, energetic, qualified community health Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in Birmingham, Alabama on a full-time basis. Area serviced is Jefferson County.

Office Location: 2201 Arlington Avenue, Bessemer, AL 35020
Position Summary:
The community health nurse will provide community nursing services to adult men and women who live in Jefferson County. One of the primary populations of focus will be adult men and women who are experiencing homelessness, and who live in shelters or on the streets. A second population of focus with is low-income residents of Bessemer.
The nurse works closely with the nursing coordinator, health services director and chief operating officer to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia House.
Primary Responsibilities
-Provide nursing services to individuals who reside in shelters, on the street or in community settings in Bessemer
-Assist with telehealth appointments for individuals who reside in shelters, on the street or in community settings in Bessemer
– Conduct testing for COVID-19 for individuals who reside in shelters, on the street or in community settings in Bessemer
-Serve as a liaison between the health center and for individuals who reside in shelters, on the street or in community settings in Bessemer
-Assist with coordinating scheduling of telehealth appointments
-Provide relevant communication to the nursing coordinator, health services director and the chief operating officer
-Attend staff meetings and trainings as required by the agency
-Perform other related activities as assigned by the nursing coordinator, health services director and chief operating officer
-Provide RN back up to LPNs in the residential facilities
Qualifications:
-Licensed as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to practice in Alabama with a current, valid and unrestricted RN license.
-Must work independently
-Strong verbal de-escalation skills and the ability to safely perform physical management techniques and crisis intervention
-Must be dependable, organized with efficient time management skills, and demonstrate good communication skills
-Must be able to obtain MAS certification
-Must be reliable, following through on assignments
-Ability to provide services in a compassionate and ethical manner
-Ability to keep sensitive information obtained confidential
-Motor Vehicle Report required
-Active Driver’s License required
Travel:
-Travel to Jefferson County Shelters
-Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation
-Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included
Wage:
$30.00 to $36.00 per hour (depending on experience and licensure) RN
$23.50 to $29.38 per hour (depending on experience and licensure) LPN
$100.00 per week when on call

Hours: F/T, Non-Exempt (Monday – Friday) Hours are flexible according to client needs.
