Community Wellness Specialist

Position Summary:
Aletheia House is looking for a community wellness specialist to provide substance abuse prevention services to young adult men and women who are enrolled in Historically Black College and University (HBCU) and who live in Birmingham. The community wellness specialist will engage in environmental and educational strategies and will also address availability and accessibility of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs in the targeted community. The area served is Jefferson County and/or Shelby County.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Implement substance abuse prevention interventions for young adult men and enroll in Historically Black College and University (HBCU)

-Document all services in a timely complete and clinically appropriate manner
-Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings as directed
-Perform other duties as assigned by the community wellness coordinator

-Bachelor’s degree in Social Services required

-Prior experience in substance abuse treatment/prevention a plus

-Good driving record required

-Motor Vehicle Report required if driving on behalf of Aletheia House

-Some local travel required (Daily)

-Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation

-Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included

Hours Available:

Full-time, Exempt, Monday- Friday 8a-4p (Flexible; require weekends)
