Aletheia House is looking for an employment specialist to provide individualized support services to veterans who are experiencing homelessness.
Location of Position: Montgomery, AL
Position Summary:
To provide employment preparedness to veterans who are experiencing homelessness. The employment specialist works closely with the veterans services coordinator.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Provide individualized supportive services to program participants
-Provide employment placement assistance to veterans who are experiencing homelessness and provide soft skills training to program participants
-Assist homeless veterans and obtain items needed to gain employment such as photo identifications, Social Security card, birth certificate, and work boots, if necessary
-Assist non-employed clients gain employment
-Provide assistance to clients who are working to improve their skills by providing activities including remedial education, training in specific job skills and referral to vocational rehabilitation services.
-Provide job counseling that helps employed clients respond appropriately to challenges of maintaining employment
-Assist clients to develop individualized job advancement plans and to help clients achieve the objectives outlined in their plans
-Coordinate employment services with other services by working with other staff members
-Document services provided in a timely, complete, and accurate manner
-Perform other duties as assigned by the veterans services coordinator, chief operating officer, and/or executive director.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree required
-Experience working with veterans preferred
-Valid driver’s license and good driving record required
-Motor Vehicle Report required
Travel Requirements:
-Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation – light local travel required
-Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is include
Job Salary:
$36,500.00 – 38,000.00
Hours:
Full-time, Exempt – 40 Hours
Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
