PREVENTION SPECIALIST – Pike, Macon and Bullock Counties

Aletheia House is looking for an individual to provide substance abuse prevention services to youth. The areas served are Pike, Macon and Bullock counties in Alabama.
Location of Position: Pike, Macon and Bullock counties
Position Summary:
The prevention specialist provides substance abuse prevention services, community activities, virtual events, after school programs, and leadership training to youth in the areas of Pike, Macon and Bullock Counties.
The Prevention Specialist will also address availability, accessibility, and attitudes towards alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in the targeted community. The prevention specialist works closely with the community wellness coordinator to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia House.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Implement substance abuse prevention interventions virtually and in-person in communities throughout Pike, Macon and Bullock counties
-Facilitate community-based prevention activities virtually and in-person
-Create content for social media that engages our audience and builds social media following
-Facilitate after school and community events virtually and in-person
-Build relationships with community stakeholders, families, and leaders
-Document all services in a timely complete and clinically appropriate manner
-Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings as directed
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Community Wellness Coordinator, Chief Operating Officer and/or Executive Director
Qualifications:
-Bachelors degree related to social service, education, psychology, public health, or related field required
-Proficiency in using various social media platforms
-Prior experience in substance abuse/treatment/prevention required
-Prevention licensure or certification a plus
-Ability to provide services in a compassionate, ethical manner
-Valid Alabama driver’s license and good driving record required
-Motor Vehicle Report required
-Ability to keep sensitive information obtained confidential
Travel Requirements:
-Some travel is required throughout counties
-Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation
-Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included
Job Salary:
$36,000 – $45,000 annual
Hours: Full-time, Exempt
Monday-Friday, (Flexible)
40 hours per week – some evenings or weekends may be required according to program needs
