Position Summary:

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will provide outpatient psychiatric evaluations, primary care services, and medication management services from the mobile health unit, a service site of the Bessemer Neighborhood Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center. The PMHNP is a member of the Aletheia House team and will be familiar with the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Agency and work collaboratively to achieve them. They must be cognizant and comply with Health Center policies and procedures, as well as pertinent state and federal regulations.  The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse works closely with the Health Services Director.

Location of Position:  Mobile Health Unit, Jefferson County

Primary Responsibilities:
⦁ Perform psychiatric assessments, diagnose, and treat patients in collaboration with staff physician as well as primary care services which fall under their field of training

⦁ Provide appropriate follow-up recommendations and continuity of care with other medical providers of Bessemer Neighborhood Health Center as indicated

⦁ Thoroughly, accurately, and promptly documents all service rendered in the electronic medical record for every patient

⦁ Provide guidance to medical and behavioral treatment of patients to other Aletheia House staff

⦁ Provide education for patients, families, and clinical staff related to diagnosis and medical management as well as educated patients regarding health and illness prevention

⦁ Coordinate care with primary care providers and other health professionals, including inpatient hospitalization, as necessary. Provide appropriate follow up recommendations and continuity of care with other providers at BNHC as indicated.

⦁ Maintain confidentiality of patient health information in accordance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations

⦁ Maintain open communication with the Medical Assistants, Registered Nurses, Mid-level providers, Physicians, and other staff, reporting patient progress, abnormal diagnostic/assessment data, and notable health changes

⦁ Follow clinical practice guidelines

Attend BNHC team meetings

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
⦁ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

⦁ Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

⦁ Excellent time management skills

⦁ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

⦁ Strong supervisory and leadership skills

⦁ Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

⦁ Ability to consult and work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers to develop effective treatment plans

⦁ Ability to relate to people in a manner to win confidence and establish rapport with patients and families

⦁ Ability to obtain health history and perform a physical exam to determine and execute a diagnosis and treatment plan in accordance with established standards, procedures, and practices

⦁ Current CPR certification

⦁ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Qualifications:

⦁ Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with focus on Psychiatric nursing

⦁ Must be licensed in Alabama as a PMHNP

⦁ Graduate of an accredited program

⦁ At least 1-2 years providing direct client care to persons receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders

⦁ Ability to work with adult populations

 

Physical Requirements:

⦁ Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching

⦁ Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

⦁ Must be able to lift to 30 pounds at times

Job Salary:

$55.00 – $65.00/Hour – Aletheia House provides medical liability coverage.

$65.00 – $75.00/Hour if PMHNP carries their own medical liability coverage

 

Hours:

P/T, Non-Exempt–Monday – Friday
