Aletheia House is looking for a social worker-housing coordinator for our Birmingham office location.  The area served is Jefferson County.

Position Summary:

The social worker-housing coordinator will oversee two housing programs:  An emergency housing program that provides housing and supportive services with 24-hour supervision for 3-9 months and a transitional housing program that provides rental assistance and case management services for 6-18 months.  Both programs serve individuals who need to be connected to community resources and support.  The social worker-housing coordinator works closely with the chief operating officer.

 

Duties Include:

-Oversee an emergency housing program that provides housing and supportive services with 24-hour supervision for 3-9 months

-Oversee a transitional housing program that provides rental assistance and case management services for 6-18 months.

-Both programs serve individuals who need to be connected to community resources and support

-Provide supervision to the permanent housing manager, who is responsible for managing the permanent housing program.

-Provide appropriate resolution for consumer issues and concerns

-Facilitate meetings designed to improve the quality of services and report on the same to HIV services coordinator and chief operating officer

-Oversee the timely, complete, and accurate completion of documentation as required by the Aletheia House and UAB

-Perform other duties as assigned by the chief operating officer

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge and experience related to the treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring substance use and mental disorders

-Knowledge and experience related to the prevention of substance abuse

-Ability to lead a team with diverse members

-Cultural competency in meetings the needs of HIV positive individuals

-Excellent writing, communication, organization and time management skills with knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation

-Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

-Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with clients, participants and resource providers

-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

-Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships with other employees

Qualifications:
-Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, psychology, or social work required

-Working in the community with vulnerable individuals preferred

-At least two years experience working in HIV treatment or prevention preferred

-Valid driver’s license and a good driving record

-Motor Vehicle Report required

 

Job Salary:

$50,540 – $62,000

 

Hours:

Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (may include evenings and weekends depending on programs needs)
