Custodian-P/T Birmingham, Alabama (Jefferson County)(#0424)

Aletheia House is looking for individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of individuals recovering from substance abuse.  The county serviced will be Jefferson County in Birmingham, Alabama.

Position Summary:

The custodian is responsible for maintaining Aletheia House facility at (Jobs for Veterans building in Ensley) by providing a clean environment for staff and clients.  The custodian works closely with the veteran’s services coordinator to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia House.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Clean facility as needed.

-Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by emptying and taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces.

-Sweep, mop, and wax floors, hallways, and restrooms; vacuum carpets.

-Clean kitchen and restroom areas by washing and sanitizing toilets, sinks, surfaces, railings, handles, showers, etc.  Responsible for restocking disposables (e.g. soap, tissue, paper towels, etc.)

-Wipe and clean mirrors and windows

-Remove all paper and debris from vacant apartment

-Report major and minor damages to the veteran’s services manager

-Maintain accurate, complete and timely documentation of all work

-Attend staff meetings and in-services trainings as directed and perform other duties as assigned by the veteran’s services coordinator, chief operating officer and/or executive director.

 

Qualifications:

-Experience with janitorial services preferred

-High School Diploma or GED preferred

 

Travel:

-Travel is required daily.  Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation

-Must have a valid Driver’s License and good driving record required

-Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included

 

Job Salary: 

$12.00-$13.50/Hourly – Part-Time, Non-Exempt

 

Hours: 

Monday-Thursday, 11:30 a.m. – 5:30 pm (some Fridays) Total 20-25 Hours/Weekly
